Ellis Avery is a rare and wonderful talent. Truthful, wise, funny, inspiring--and her prose sings. This should become a classic essay--it has so much to offer us all, as we navigate the terminal condition that is life.

A journey shared

Ellis has put all of herself into this short in order to take us down the long, dark hall of fear that accompanies the unsuspected diagnosis of cancer. She tells of the lessons she learned facing it as well as the courage it takes to make the final decisions on the treatment methods to use, and those to reject. I learned much. Well done.

Clear-eyed, yet hopeful in the face of great odds

In the face of the worst possible news, author Ellis Avery demonstrates equal parts courage, vulnerability and high spirits. This is a woman whose inner life it is a privilege to get a glimpse of. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever received bad news, or thinks one day they might.
