To many errors in the text!

While the merits of the layout of this text can be debated, the fact that this text is riddled with errors (and an errata is not provided by the publisher) makes this absolutely useless to me. Especially considering that this text utilizes a "self teaching" layout... the errors become very difficult for a new student to resolve on their own. I have found more than 25 errors in this text and still counting.
If you doubt me, do a Google search of "Essentials of accounting 11th ed errata" and you will find that other people have already attempted to scale this mountain. However, it gets even harder in that there were multiple printings of the 11th edition and changes were made from printing to printing. I have found that my text omits sections that exist in those of my peers and vice versa.
Absolutely useless for a person who is new to finance and accounting! DON'T BUY IT. If your instructor tells you it's required, show them the errata issues!

Coming from a student- I hate this book.

Are you a professor looking for a textbook for their class? Please look elsewhere.
I'm taking this class as a requirement for my master's degree. I know I wont end up in accounting but understand why it's important to know the basics. However, being a student with no previous experience with accounting this book is TERRIBLE at figuring it out on your own. Not only that, but I have to flip each page to get to my homework- why are there no page numbers & no index for those problems? And, speaking of the problems, most of them don't even ask a question- they just give you a statement and you have to figure out what they are asking for. Sure, probably not a problem for someone with experience in accounting, but as a n00b, I have to look at the answers just to figure out what question I'm answering.
Plus, someone else mentioned how many errors are in the book- it's bad! I'm constantly wondering if I got it wrong or if the book did.
It's slowing down my learning. You're better off either finding another book or creating your own problems.

Amazing book, but...

This is an amazing book. It's one of the best written textbooks I've ever read. It's compelling, witty, easy to understand; it makes accounting fun/interesting. However, there are too many errors in the practice problems!
Here's how I would describe this book: It's like reading an all-time classic, let's say, Shakespeare's Hamlet. The catch is that in the 20 most critical passages of the story, the names of Ophelia, Hamlet, and Horatio are all switched around incorrectly. This book is about like that. Still worth the read in my opinion... but just barely!
