More amazing recipes from Marcy Goldman

This book has it all. Incredible recipes - from classics to a host of new spins, including Nutella Banana Bread, Greek Yogurt Blueberry muffins, Carrot Cake Cheesecake (beyond awesome), Cocoa Chocolate Layer Cake, even terrific preserves to go with the baking - along with great tips and a wonderful chapter of delicious teas that you can make yourself. I call a cookbook like this PERFECT. I love the sidebars - it is great to get Marcy Goldman’s professional advice - I find that I get perfect results every time. I use her method for baking biscotti - they look absolutely professional each time and they are delicious! This book is a joy to read - and fun to bake from. The bonus offer of 4 months free access to Betterbaking.com is an extra treat. I bought her “When Bakers Cook” cookbook last year (it is on the Washington Post’s “Best Cookbooks of 2014"). My family is hooked on the Brownie Stuffed Tollhouse cookies from that book. What will I bake next? That is my only problem - each page is a recipe I want to try. Thank you Marcy for another fabulous cookbook.

A worthy purchase

This is a very readable cookbook, as Marcy's approach and organization by season sets the tone with flavors and ingredients. Each recipe has a comment, a suggestion, or a bit of history. These are highly original recipes-you won't find "reworks" of recipes created by others. The recipes are not overly complicated, but there is a clear emphasis on flavor. The section on tea, coffee, and potables is an unexpected bonus. Readers of Marcy's newsletter and owners of other Marcy Goldman cookbooks will find this book a welcome addition to their collection. New readers will find this is a book they will turn to many times for that special taste or when they have seasonable ingredients on hand. Well worth the price.

The Baker's Four Seasons

Just within the last year I have discovered Marcy Goldman and her wonderful cookbooks. What a find, don’t know how I have missed out on her for so long but it was like finding a buried treasure that I was not expecting. I have since purchased all of her books and I am happily baking through them. This newest book is a wonderful addition. It is so much fun to bake with the seasons, and I love to read my cookbooks from cover to cover so I enjoyed this one even more with all of Marcy’s poems and uplifting thoughts and side notes. I am also a big tea drinker so I especially enjoyed the addition of the tea and coffee section. This book may not have pictures but has made up for that many times over with the large quantity and variety of the recipes included. I live at a high altitude, so I do have to make some slight adjustments to some of the recipes, especially cakes, but so far I have made and enjoyed the After School Yellow Sheet Cake, the Orange Pecan Brown Sugar Scones, loved all of the brown sugar in these! Also really yummy were the General Store Oatmeal Cookies and the Raspberry Lemon Cake Muffins. In the tea section it was fun to make my own Chai Tea Mix from Marcy’s Home Blend Chai Mix, and the Clementine Tangerine Tea and also Miss Austen’s Tea Blend were also very very good. I am anxious for Spring when the Rhubarb is up because there are some tasty looking Rhubarb recipes I am looking forward to making. All of Marcy’s books are great but “Baker’s Four Seasons” and her last book, “When Bakers Cook” are my most favorite of Marcy’s books. Thanks Marcy, I will be looking forward to your next book, maybe a “When Bakers Cook II”?
